Turkey’s gold imports are still significantly above the previous year’s level. Almost 19 tons of gold entered the country in February, 276 percent more than in the same month of 2019.

Turkey imported 18.87 tons of gold last month. This is clear from the current report by Borsa Istanbul. The import volume was 36 percent below the previous month. In February, however, the highest gold imports had been reported since May 2018.
248% over the previous year
In contrast, there is a strong increase compared to the previous year. Gold deliveries increased by 276 percent compared to February 2019. A year ago, only 5 tons of gold were officially brought into the country. The two-month figures are 248 percent above the previous year. Turkey’s silver imports in February were 22.9 tons, 2.5 percent below the previous month but 6 percent above the previous year.
